With Deep Sadness, We Announce the Passing of Krishna Maharaj
Founder of InFocus Community Newspaper

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Krishna Maharaj, veteran media photographer, founder of the Trinidad and Tobago School of Photography, former Chief Photographer at the Trinidad Express, and creator of the InFocus Community Newspaper.

Mr. Maharaj dedicated over 50 years of his life to photography and journalism, using his lens to tell stories that mattered. Through InFocus, he gave a voice to communities across Trinidad & Tobago—highlighting the lives, struggles, and successes often overlooked by mainstream media.

Krishna Maharaj’s passion, integrity, and commitment to community journalism shaped InFocus into a trusted, volunteer-driven publication that celebrated local stories and the people behind them. He was not only a mentor to many but also a tireless advocate for grassroots storytelling.

With his passing, we regret to inform the public that InFocus will no longer continue publication. This includes both physical and digital editions.

Please be advised that no individual or organization is authorized to conduct business, solicit content, or represent InFocus Community Newspaper in any form, as of the passing of Mr. Krishna Maharaj.

We thank all those who supported InFocus over the years—readers, contributors, and the many volunteers who shared Krishna’s vision. His contributions to photography and journalism in Trinidad & Tobago will not be forgotten.

May he rest in peace.
